Ordinance keeps film crews out of La Cañada
La Cañada Flintridge might be home to some of the most picturesque homes in Los Angeles County, but don't expect to see them in films or on television. Los Angeles location scouts say the city's strict permitting rules keep them away — and city officials say that's how they want it.

Pasadena cashes in on film shoots
Pasadena issues about 480 film permits a year and has about 800 film days a year, said Ariel Penn, film manager for the city. Film permit revenues add $750,000 to city coffers annually.  "Pulp Fiction", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "The Trials of Cate McCall", "Mad Men" and  "Father of the Bride" are but a few that have been filmed in Pasadena.

'Mad Men' has filmed in Pasadena
"Mad Men" television series is set in New York in the 1960s, but the show about advertising executives on Madison Avenue uses many locations in the San Gabriel Valley.  Curbed L.A. has rounded up all the Los Angeles-area filming spots on one map, including Cravens Estate in Pasadena, SS Hinds Estate in Pasadena and Monrovia Bakery.  The house that Don Draper formerly shared with his ex-wife, Betty, is also in Pasadena, on 675 Arden Rd.  It also filmed at The Cravens Estate, 430 Madeline Drive on November 12th, 2013 More about the Cravens Estate here.

'Amazing Race' scenes shot at Colorado Street Bridge
Pasadena is prominently featured in the Season Premiere of the “Amazing Race” reality TV show on CBS. The Season Opener on Sept. 30, 2012 featured contestants rappelling off the Historic Colorado Street Bridge. The City’s Film Office worked with show producers to also feature City Hall in the opening sequence. The Amazing Race follows teams racing around the globe for a chance to win $1 million by facing incredible challenges in a variety of 'amazing' locations, now including Pasadena!.
